SIZEMORE HAS KNEE SURGERY, OUT FOR YEAR
As expected by many, Grady will miss the remainder of the 2010 season after having microfracture surgery on his left knee in Vail, CO today (6/4). The Indians say he will miss 6-9 months but, at present, is expected to be ready to go for Spring Training 2011.
Sizemore underwent a 90-minute operation on Friday in Vail, Colo. The Indians said Dr. Richard Steadman found unstable cartilage in the knee, and having discussed the options prior to the operation, Sizemore preferred the microfracture surgery, which involves small holes being drilled into the kneecap to stimulate cartilage growth, as opposed to facing more future procedures.
We all wish Grady good luck in his rehab & recovery. After spending a week in Vail he is expected to return to Cleveland to begin his rehab next Thursday.
Don't forget to send in your well wishes to Grady for our "Get Well, Grady" Project. Just click the yellow burst above.
ETA: The project has now been delivered. We'll let those who contributed know if we hear anything back.
And to answer a couple of questions that I've heard have come up about this project, we "delivered" it by sending it via email to the Tribe's PR guys, as suggested to us by STO's Matt Underwood. As is stated below in the disclaimer, we do not, nor have we ever claimed to, know Grady personally.

SIZEMOREFAN.COM "GET WELL, GRADY" PROJECT
With today's news on Grady's injury we can't help but admit that the prognosis sounds a little bleak. We here at SizemoreFan.com came up with an idea to put together a collection of well wishes, positive thoughts, prayers, etc. from fellow Grady fans that we will deliver to Grady.
Click the yellow burst in the header above to go to the Form we'd like everyone to use to submit their thoughts. Spread the word around to other fans... Grady fans, Indians fans, anyone that might like to contribute their messages to this project. After two weeks (June 13th) we'll take these thoughts and put them together in a digital file. When it's finished we'll make sure it's given to Grady. To let him know that we are all thinking of him, supporting him, and wishing for a happy ending to this knee injury saga.
ETA: The deadline for submissions has now passed. Thank you to all who contributed. :

SIZEMORE TO HAVE SURGERY ON L KNEE THIS WEEK ~ TO MISS AT LEAST 6-8 WEEKS
As expected, Indians head trainer Lonnie Soloff gave the official word this morning on Grady's injury and planned treatment. He is to have arthroscopic surgery sometime within the next 5-7 days to be performed by Dr. Richard Steadman in Vail, CO. They won't know until they are in the middle of the scope exactly what type of surgery is needed. If microfracture surgery is needed, the time missed will be well over the 6-8 weeks. More info can be found at the links below:
| Sizemore will miss "at least" six to eight weeks - Plain Dealer |
| Sizemore to have surgery - Beacon Journal/Associated Press |
Let's all hope that he doesn't need microfracture surgery. That would leave a very uncertain future for his career, and that would just be too sad.

PETER GAMMONS ARTICLE, SMALL INJURY UPDATE (5/24)
MLB.com columnist/MLB Network analyst, the legendary Peter Gammons, today released a nice, yet distressing, article on the career paths of Grady and Detroit's Miguel Cabrera. Nice because of Gammons' wonderful impressions of both players, distressing because of the sad story it chronicles. Check it out at the link below:
Also, Indians.com beat writer Anthony Castrovince gives this bit of an injury update on his BLOG:
..."I do know that Grady Sizemore is seeing not one but two specialists this week (in Vail, Colo., and New York City) for second and third opinions on how to treat his condition. Clearly, this is not your standard bruise. Cartilage damage is a possibility, as is surgery. We should know more later in the week."
Please keep Grady in your thoughts and prayers and hope for good news to come out of Vail & NYC. At this point things don't sound too promising, but all we can do is hope for the best. We're all with you, Grady! Get well soon.

INDIANS PLACE GRADY SIZEMORE ON 15-DAY DL
The Cleveland Indians today have placed OF GRADY SIZEMORE on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 17th, with a bone bruise on his left knee. Read the rest of the press release HERE.
Indians head athletic trainer Lonnie Soloff says that the training staff is evaluating treatment options for Sizemore's condition, but also that possible surgery can not be ruled out.

We here at Sizemore fan wish Grady a speedy and successful recovery from the knee injury and hope surgery can be avoided. Get well soon, Grady!

SIZEMORE TO UNDERGO MRI WEDNESDAY
Unfortunately Grady sustained yet another injury this past Sunday in Baltimore, suffering a contusion on his left knee. While the injury is not considered to be serious, it is painful enough that it has kept Sizemore out of action ever since the 5th inning on Sunday. Being that this is the same knee off of which he fouled a ball back in April, the Indians will have him undergo an MRI in Cleveland on Wednesday to make sure there is nothing worse than they think.
We wish Grady a speedy recovery and for a good diagnosis from the MRI results. Check out Tuesday's coverage and info from the Tribe's beat writers below:
Paul Hoynes - Cleveland Plain Dealer
"My knee still hurts. I came to the park today, and it feels pretty bad. I can't put any weight on it. I'm not worried, I just wish I was in a better spot."
Anthony Castrovince - Indians.com
"It's still bothering me," Sizemore said Tuesday morning. "I'm not even testing it out yet. Right now, I'm just taking it slow."
"Just moving around is tough," he said. "We'll see how it goes."

MISC. ARTICLES
A few different articles came out on Thursday and Friday regarding Sizemore's slow start to the 2010 season. Check them out at the links below as well as some choice quotes from the blurbs.
Grady Sizemore has his health, but his bat is ailing - Cleveland Plain Dealer
"I've felt better lately, but I can't get it all back in one night," Sizemore said before the Indians played Kansas City on Wednesday night. "I still have to go out there and do it over a course of weeks and weeks and weeks instead of trying to do too much everyday to try and get everything back."
Indians waiting for Sizemore's power - Indians.com
Sluggers look to break out after slow starts - MLB.com
"It's a bad start," the Indians center fielder said. "But I haven't always felt bad at the plate. Sometimes you get off to a slow start and things don't go your way. I still feel healthy. It will turn around. Some broken-bat singles will start to fall in, and I'll be on my way."

POSSIBLE NATIONAL SPONSOR ..... PEPSI?
Not sure how many of you saw this. But in the Cleveland Plain Dealer the other day Grady's agent, Joe Urbon, told the PD's Paul Hoynes that Grady had recently picked up not only a new regional sponsor, but also a national one. Unfortunately he refused to name the sponsors.
Well according to what we're seeing, if the clues are being interpreted correctly, that national sponsor could very possibly be Pepsi.
Taking advantage of the Indians' off day, earlier today (4/19) at Progressive Field Atlanta-based photographer Jason Fobart held a session with Grady. During which he took both stills and video. From what I've found on searches, Fobart has shot several other MLB players this month for a Pepsi campaign.
Here is the one photo from today of the shoot taking place. See the full size in the PHOTO GALLERY.

We could easily be wrong, so for now we're just calling this a rumor. As soon as we see/read for sure, we'll be sure to post it here. Or if anyone else sees it first, send us a line.

SIZEMORE FACES NEW HURDLES WITH INDIANS
Another new article from FOX Sports.
As spring training began last year, Grady Sizemore was still viewed as a baseball icon in the making.
He was coming off his first 30/30 season. He had made three All-Star teams in a row. He was going to play center field for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic. His Cleveland Indians were expected to contend in the American League Central.
Then Sizemore had to miss the WBC because of a groin pull, which should have been our first clue. He never asks out of the lineup. Sizemore wasn't completely healthy for the rest of the season, and, consequently, neither were the Indians.

GRADY SIZEMORE SEEKS TURNAROUND IN '10
Great new article from Jerry Crasnick at ESPN.
Grady Sizemore and Mike Redmond have two elements in place that should make for a productive conversation. They're both Seattle natives, and they're represented by the same agent, Joe Urbon of Creative Artists Associates.
But those snippets of common ground didn't lead to much verbal repartee when Redmond was catching for Minnesota and Sizemore stepped in the batter's box for Cleveland. Motorists and tollbooth attendants have been known to engage in lengthier dialogues.
"He'd come to the plate and it was, 'Hi,' and that's it,'' said Redmond, who signed with Cleveland as a free agent in January. "When you play against somebody for five or six years, 19 times a year, you should get a little bit more than, 'Hi.' But that's Grady, and that's fine. I think I got as much out of [Shin-Soo] Choo.''

Print doublesided (short-edge binding, pg 2 on the back of pg 1, pg 4 on the back of pg 3, etc.) on 11x17 paper. 3.) Fold each page so it matches up with the previously printed pages. SPECIAL STATEMENT (EDIT TO ADD FOLLOW-UP)
We don't normally allow this subject to be addressed at SizemoreFan, as we want to focus on Grady the baseball player. But, the special circumstances that have arisen in the past 24 hours have made us feel compelled to say something. We know it to be a fact that the private photos that were leaked to the internet on Saturday were NOT sent out to anyone by Grady's girlfriend. She was not the one that leaked them, regardless what multiple web sites say. The photos were not intended for anyone else's eyes, and they were stolen from Miss Binger's personal e-mail.
We will not discuss this matter any further on this site or forum, end of story.
EDIT: (11:50 pm 11/29/09) As a follow-up to this statement, and to further spread the truth, we are now posting a letter sent to deadspin from the MLB in regards to these photos, as well as a statement given by Grady tonight to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Link to Plain Dealer/cleveland.com article - Excerpts from this article:
"These pictures were stolen illegally from my girlfriend's email," Sizemore told The Plain Dealer on Sunday night. "It's now a legal matter that is under investigation. I can't say anything more." MLB and the players association are said to be investigating the matter on Sizemore's behalf.
Sizemore said the pictures were meant for his girlfriend only.
So maybe now the malicious rumors and accusations against Miss Binger will stop. We at SF.com would love to help with this investigation in any way, so we ask that if any of you have any real information that will lead to the exposure of this sick person, please feel free to e-mail us with the info, and we will pass it on to the appropriate parties.

Friday afternoon the Indians announced that Grady will miss the remainder of the season because of soreness in his left elbow that will require arthroscopic surgery. He will also undergo lower abdominal surgery a week after the elbow operation. Sizemore said it's the same groin injury that forced him out of the World Baseball Classic in March. He has played with the injury all season.
