INDIANS RE-SIGN SIZEMORE ON 1-YEAR DEAL
INDIANS RE-SIGN SIZEMORE ON 1-YEAR DEAL
Jordan Bastian - Indians.com

As expected, on Wednesday the Cleveland Indians announced that CF Grady Sizemore had signed a 1-year contract that keeps him with the Tribe through the 2012 season.

With a base salary of $5 million guaranteed, Sizemore can make up to $9 million next season.  $4 million worth of incentives are built into the new contract, not kicking in until the oft-injured former All-Star has amassed at least 450 plate appearances.

SOURCES: SIZEMORE LIKELY TO RE-SIGN WITH INDIANS
SOURCES: SIZEMORE LIKELY TO RE-SIGN WITH INDIANS
Multiple baseball writers are reporting tonight that sources are telling them it is very likely that free agent CF Grady Sizemore will re-sign with his former team, the Cleveland Indians.

Ken Rosenthal (FOX), Buster Olney and Jerry Crasnick (ESPN) are all citing sources that say the two parties are in serious discussions that will keep the 29-year-old in Cleveland for the 2012 season, with a decision coming as soon as this weekend.

Sizemore's agent, Joe Urbon, confirms the discussions. Commenting that the Indians, who previously declined a $9 million club option on Sizemore in late October, "came at us with an aggressive offer. Grady has always maintained that he would be interested in returning to Cleveland.'''

Indians.com beat writer Jordan Bastian tweets that
GM Chris Antonetti had no comment on Sizemore speculation, but said "we remain interested in keeping Grady in an Indians' uniform."

More info as it becomes available.

11/19 AM UPDATE:  ESPN's Buster Olney weighs in some more this morning in his ESPN Insider blog (subscription required). Including this tidbit:

...it makes sense that Sizemore would go back to a team where he is well-known, where he has a good relationship and comfort level with what is regarded as arguably baseball's best medical staff, where he knows he will get at-bats. He owns a condo in Cleveland, and he knows the Indians have a shot to win next year. Friends say Sizemore also feels a little like he owes the Indians something because of his recent physical problems.

SIZEMORE UNDERGOES MINOR ARTHROSCOPY IN VAIL, CO (10/3)
SIZEMORE UNDERGOES MINOR ARTHROSCOPY IN VAIL, CO (10/3)
It was announced by the Indians today that CF Grady Sizemore underwent a minor arthroscopy on his right knee yesterday (10/3) in Vail, CO.  The procedure, performed by Dr. Richard Steadman, is expected to allow the injury-riddled Sizemore to fully recover from the bone bruise that bothered him for much of 2011.

Recovery time is 6-8 weeks, and Grady is expected to be ready in plenty of time for Spring Training 2012.  All that remains now is to find out if that will be with the Tribe or with another team.

“We could not be happier with the results of Monday’s arthroscopy,” said Grady Sizemore. “Dr. Steadman told me this minor procedure should allow the bone bruise in my right knee to fully heal.”

SIZEMORE TO HAVE RIGHT KNEE EXAMINED MONDAY
SIZEMORE TO HAVE RIGHT KNEE EXAMINED MONDAY
The Indians are experiencing an unfortunate case of deja vu with Grady Sizemore. The same doctor who surgically repaired Sizemore's left knee last year is now scheduled to examine the center fielder's right knee.

Sizemore is currently scheduled to travel to Vail, Colo., where he will meet with specialist Dr. Richard Steadman on Monday. Cleveland is hoping that surgery is not required for Sizemore's ailing right knee, but it has yet to be ruled out.

Been a little lax in the update department lately. My apologies. But today Grady Sizemore was back where he was supposed to be, roaming CF for the Indians at Progressive Field.

SIZEMORE TO REHAB IN AKRON WED. 8/31 & THURS. 9/1
SIZEMORE TO REHAB IN AKRON WED. 8/31 & THURS. 9/1
During Tuesday's pregame interviews, Tribe Manager Manny Acta and Grady both indicated that Grady will be serving as the DH for the Aeros tomorrow (Wed 8/31) in Akron.

Sizemore is attempting to return from a July sports hernia surgery and a banged up right knee. The Tribe's depleted outfield could use him right now, with Michael Brantley done for the season and Shin-Soo Choo's ailing left oblique.

Head out to Akron for their final three regular season home games of 2011 as they push for the playoffs, Tuesday-Wednesday and Thursday.  Weather should be great, Canal Park is wonderful, and Wednesday and Thursday should also give you a chance to see Grady in rehab action for the Aeros.

EDIT: Acta revealed that Grady's Akron schedule is as follows:  DH on 8/31, if all goes well he will play 6 innings and man CF for the Aeros on Thursday 9/1. After that is TBD.

SIZEMORE UNDERGOES ABDOMINAL SURGERY - OUT 4-6 WEEKS
SIZEMORE UNDERGOES ABDOMINAL SURGERY - OUT 4-6 WEEKS
In a surprising announcement on Thursday afternoon, the Indians revealed that CF Grady Sizemore underwent abdominal surgery in Philadelphia on Thursday morning to address a sports hernia.

It's said that this has been affecting him ever since the slide that initially injured his right knee on May 10th. It was expected that recovery time for the latest right knee injury sustained on July 17th would be around 4 weeks, so they Indians felt it was prudent to address the abdominal injury at the same time.

More information to come soon, will update once the beat writers complete their articles after Tribe head trainer Lonnie Soloff addresses the media shortly.

"The injury which resulted in today's surgery has been bothering me since the slide in May. Knowing the two areas are related and also learning my knee condition is not serious gives me peace of mind going forward that I can finish the season healthy and help contribute to an exciting pennant chase," said Sizemore. - WKYC.com

SIZEMORE TO DL FOR 3RD TIME IN 2011
SIZEMORE TO DL FOR 3RD TIME IN 2011
Sorry for the lack of updates lately. Work has been crazy and I've just plain been tired.

Unfortunately today's long overdue update brings some bad news for us Grady fans. After injuring his right knee while going for a double in Sunday's game at Baltimore, the Indians today placed Grady on the 15-day DL. This marks the 3rd time this 2011 season Sizemore has been assigned this status.

We all hope that it turns out to not be too serious, though admittedly it doesn't sound too promising. You can easily sense Grady's concern in these articles, as well as his fear that it may be a repeat of 2010:

Right Knee Injury Sends Sizemore to DL - Jordan Bastian, Indians.com
Sizemore's Injury Doesn't Change Plans - Paul Hoynes, Cleveland Plain Dealer
Sizemore's Injury Hurts Team - Sheldon Ocker, Akron Beacon Journal

We wish Grady the best and send him good vibes in hoping that this isn't as serious as the 2nd 2010 injury.
